Dr. Stephanie Plön is a marine biologist specializing in the biology, ecology and health of whales and dolphins (cetaceans). Stephanie has studied in Germany, the UK, South Africa and New Zealand, investigating various aspects of cetacean trophic ecology, life history, population genetics, health and anatomy.
Stephanie earned her PhD in 2005 and for the past 12 years she has collaborated widely, published numerous scientific articles, supervised a number of postgraduate students and gained work experience in a natural history museum, research institute and a university. Stephanie is currently the manager of the Ocean Health group at the Earth Stewardship Research Institute (ESSRI) at Nelson Mandela University, South Africa. She is the co-founder of the Ocean Health lab.
