Mark Swilling, Prof.
is appointed as the Distinguished Professor of Sustainable Development at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. He is the Co-Director of the Centre for Complex Systems in Transition and Academic Director of the Sustainability Institute. He coordinates a Masters and Doctoral programme in studies of sustainability transitions and has published widely on urban transitions, global transitions, governance and sustainable development. In 2012 he co-authored a book with Eve Annecke called Just Transitions: Explorations of Sustainability in an Unfair World and in 2018 published a book called Shadow State: The Politics of State Capture. His latest book is Age of Sustainability: Just Transitions in a Complex World which will be published by Routledge in September 2019.
