Background: There is a growing world population living in cities and the trend of urbanization is getting more visible. Cities are driving factors of economic growth and innovation. However, increasing urbanization speeds up urban density and the limits of the capacity of urban infrastructure seem to have been reached. As a consequence, there has been a change of paradigms away from car-friendly cities and towards urban-friendly mobility. Audi Urban Solutions has started various initiatives and pilot projects which look for new solutions and business models in order to cooperate with cities in order to enhance individual, urban-friendly mobility.
Objectives and Results: In context with the Audi Urban Future Initiative, a shared vision of the city of Ingolstadt and Audi has been developed within a broad stakeholder process. On this basis, different experts have worked on a regional urban development strategy as well as a transport planning strategy which both aim at fulfilling the joint vision they have created.
